“ Good variety and very good sand which cubano. Had a very well made café cortadito (which is similar to a capuchino) and brought some pre-package assorted pastries and galletas that were well prepared. Although there was only one more couple, service was slow but worth the wait. The only thing I didn't appreciate was the Santeria cakes but hey - it ads to authenticity, ambiance, and it's a free country. I will go back again. ”
“ Wow... this was a happy surprise. We are Cubans from the east coast and have struggled for some time to find Cuban pastries that taste like home. We stumbled upon this place after visiting royal roasters and decided to peak in and buy some pastelitos de guayaba and pastelitos de carne. When I tell you that I was FLABBERGASTED after tasting them?!!! This is the best pastelito de guayaba in Houston and I will die on this hill because in our 8 years here we have SEARCHED and tried them all. The pastelitos de carne are also incredible. We will be back for sure! ”
“ FOOD/DRINKS - Rollito de guayabana: 2/5 -- too sweet, soaked with a syrup so the crumb is too wet, the jelly-like exterior is kind of gritty - Pastel de guayabana: 5/5 -- lots of filling, buttery and flaky pastry - Flan cheesecake: 4/5 -- very sweet - Cafe con leche: 5/5 -- strong, full-bodied coffee; good frothed milk; customizable sweetness (slightly sweet was perfect) AMBIANCE - Tables are in the center with the pastry cases surrounding - Small shop SERVICE - Friendly and fast ”
“ Located along a sleepy strip mall on Westheimer, a sign that reads, "Cuban Bakery" is meant for Azucar, one of the few panaderias of the cubano kind in all of HTown. Ultimately they're a great addition for the neighborhood and I appreciate the offerings more than this review can express (#1). The store might be small, but the variety they offer in their displays is nothing short of impressive. In addition to the seasonal decor, there is a smattering of chairs and tables for small groups. It smells good almost all the time, which emblematic of its name (#2) I love their cakes. The display is filled with seasonal goodness and so many variations of trees leches. They all look incredible and the other non-cake pastries look vast, colorful, and tasty. __________ (#1) Any option is better than no option. (#2) Otherwise known as "sugar" in Spanish. ”
“ The food was good, the sandwich is huge and flavorful. Chicken and picadillo empanadas were my favorite, the lechón one was very dry The service is good, quickly and friendly ”
“ This was my first time going to a Cuban bakery, and I had no idea what to expect. But I was pleasantly surprised by the cafe. Beautiful cakes and pretty pastries were neatly showcased in the display cases. I had a hard time choosing the pastries I wanted, because, firstly they all looked super good. Secondly, I did not understand the language, thus, I had to google all the names of the pastries. The staff was sweet and patient as I took my time to select. The cakes that I got: Dobo (my favorite), Rollitos, and Cabezote were delicious. The sponges were soft and fluffy, and the flavors were good. I got the butter cookies as well but they weren't fresh, and weren't buttery rich. I am not in love with the masa real as the top layer was very hard. I reached the cafe at about 10am on a weekday, and there were only two trays of bread in four shelves. About 20mins later, freshly made bread came out from the kitchen one tray after the other. It is probably best to go in the noon time to have full shelves of freshly baked goods. There are two tables with four chairs on each table available for dine-in customers. Most customers got their food to-go. The cafe is clean with simple decor. Parking is plentiful and free. ”
“ I'm Colombian but I will say there is nothing that makes me happier than a fresh Cuban cafe con leche in the mornings! I moved to the area almost 2 years ago and kept missing this place. I now visit weekly to get a coffee and if you get here around 8am they have fresh hot pastelitos! My favorite ones are guayaba con queso! But they have quite the selection of pastelitos available. Along with pastelitos they have a small menu of quick cuban foods, think panes cubanos. The shop specializes in baked goods so I highly recommend purchasing some sweets and coffee when you are there. The staff is very friendly and always helpful with recommendations and if you have any questions. They have a very small seating area so I usually grab my things to go. But if you are lucky enough to find a seat it smells incredible all day long! ”
“ Love the bakery items, reqnny nice sandwich options for lunch, but I come for the best coffe ai have anywhere in Houston Cafe Cortadito Doble Don't ask, just go and order, ask for it sweet, then taste and understand. This is the best, your day is set and nothing is going to bother you all day long. I am inHouston for work a few times a year, and one of these is mandatory on arrival. I just bought three to take to friends back at the workplace. Add some pastellitos, the tres leches, flan, the Cuban breads and cakes, everything it worth trying once, or twice, or more. ”
